For completeness, you should add Marc Chagall (a Jewish painter who was a contemporary of Picasso and likely equally as famous) to you collection.

He did many hundreds of Biblical paintings. He was mainly about capturing the emotion of the scenes.

For example, here is a woodcut he did of Joseph being attacked by his brothers.:



As a woodcut, this is black and white, but he was mainly known for his fantastic colors.

And Jacob weeps for Joseph.

I love Chagall. Especially his windows in Jerusalem, which I am sure you have seen a few times. :-)

I have, yes.

I actually own the original lithographs (hand signed) he sold for their production.

Have them in a giant (3 meter by 1 meter) fame, all 12 mounted on raw gold silk. Very striking.

I have posted Chagalls dozens of times, as you would know if you were a regular viewer, and I have several more ready in upcoming episodes.

Regarding "completeness": I make no pretense about attempting to post every single depiction by every single artist of any given Bible event. Only a lunatic would attempt to do so. You are free and easy with my time, but the eight hours I spend on average researching and producing each post certainly seems sufficient to me.

Thanks for adding those two pertinent works. Had I come across them, I expect I would have included one or both.

I have not had the opportunity to go back to Israel, but it was truly unforgettable.

Number 5 has the saddest looking camel I’ve ever seen

29,is a pretty powerful,story telling work. Conveys the scene nicely. Probably my favorite of the lot.

I gotta ask though, did people walk aroudn with their loose cloths or sheets or whatever they are falling off them, or their breasts hanging out in
Public back,then? Lots of paintings seem to depict this. Was everyone exhibitionists back then?

Many ‘new’ artists here; all well chosen. It’s exciting to read the Word, then see the paintings. Then we remember, “This is not just a story, this is history that changed the world.”

Don’t know,if I buy that totally, as the women are usually almost completely,clothed except for the one breast hanging out exposed, and there isn’t much painting genius going on In The near monotone breast usually.

The figures with draped cloths that expose most of,the body, ok I can see that, as theymusually,are very detailed, including translucent skin which shows the veins underneath the skin, indents, moles,or whatever, but you go back,through the paintings of the women, and the painting of one breast I don’t think is about showing their skill as painters, as there is nothing especially,skillful aboutmtheir,depiction in most cases, and is just a little more of the skin showing than normal. If however it is shown with various veins showing through, so,as,to,render skin and form skillfully, I can see the argument, but usually they aren’t depicted so skillfully

Just last night, while listening to Vintagee Vinyl, I heard a 12 minute version of “I Heard it Through The Grapevine” on CCR’s iconic album “Cosmos Factory”. It was a perfeect example of an unnecessary over-extended solo put into the song to show off the Artist’s Chops without adding anything to the song.

Another example is th Rare Earth recording of “Get Ready”, which shows off the amazing chops of the Bass Player, but goes on too long.

With all the work that goes into training, study, and practice, sometimes we artist just can’t help ourselves! :-)

That is my wish, and as I understand it, the Spirit's wish, for every viewer. This is now your second reference to it, and I am pleased to know that you "get it". I would love to survey the viewers generally to learn what percentage also practice that, but it is one of those many endeavors where the Lord knows but leaves us to wonder. I defer to Him.
